The Journey
My Style & My Interests
I’ve always been deeply inspired by art in all its forms, especially from the worlds I grew up loving. I’m a big fan of video games and the artistry behind them, as well as classical influences like Renaissance art. A lot of my early inspiration came from studying and recreating characters, which helped shape my eye for detail, composition, and storytelling within an image.
As a tattoo artist, my style has evolved over time. I began focusing on larger black and grey pieces, developing a strong understanding of shading, contrast, and form. From there, I moved into fine line work, refining my precision and control. Over time, I combined these approaches to create highly detailed, hand sized pieces often referred to as micro realism.
My work is driven by a passion for detail and accuracy. I aim to create pieces with strong contrast, depth, and clarity that hold up over time. There’s something incredibly rewarding about bringing a design to life on skin, especially when it captures the level of intricacy people don’t expect at that scale.
What I enjoy most is the reaction. Hearing clients say how much they love their tattoo, or that others can’t believe the level of detail, is a huge part of why I do this. Even more so, receiving recognition from other artists is something I find genuinely gratifying. It pushes me to keep improving and to continue delivering the highest standard of work I can.
How Tattooing Found Me
Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always drawing, building, and creating anything I could with whatever I had around me. Creativity runs in my family both my mum and grandmother are incredibly expressive artists, and they were my biggest inspirations. I used to look at my mum’s drawings in complete amazement, always hoping that one day I could create something like that myself.
I was lucky to have their full support. They gave me the tools, encouragement, and freedom to explore art in my own way, and that foundation shaped everything that came after. In school, I remember receiving an award for art and drama something that made me incredibly proud and reinforced how much I loved creating.
Outside of art, I was always active. I spent my time riding motorbikes, playing tennis, training in martial arts, skateboarding, and being outdoors as much as possible. But one weekend changed everything. While riding in a paddock with my brother, I had an accident that resulted in a broken leg. What initially seemed manageable turned into something far more severe due to complications with swelling and circulation.
I spent the next two years unable to walk, and during that time, many parts of my life were put on hold. But art never left me. It became my outlet something that helped me process, escape, and keep moving forward mentally, even when I physically couldn’t.
Eventually, I decided to pursue art more seriously and completed an Advanced Diploma in Visual Art and Illustration. It was there I met Shane, who is now not only one of my closest friends but also someone I work alongside today.
After finishing my studies, I wasn’t sure where to take things. Tattooing wasn’t even on my radar at the time I didn’t have any tattoos myself, and I didn’t feel drawn to traditional design paths like graphic design. Art remained something personal, something I did purely for enjoyment.
Years later, after multiple surgeries and ongoing complications, I made the decision to undergo an amputation. It was not an easy choice, but it was the right one. It gave me my life back. For the first time in years, I could walk, run, train, and fully engage with life again. That shift reignited a drive in me that I hadn’t felt in a long time.
While working at my first job post recovery, I met someone who noticed my drawing and suggested I look into tattooing. It was something I had never seriously considered before, but I decided to give it a shot. The day before my interview, I got my first tattoo just to understand what it felt like.
From the moment I stepped into the studio, I knew. The atmosphere, the creativity, the culture it all clicked instantly. I was hooked. I threw myself into it completely, and it quickly became more than just a career path it became a passion.
Tattooing has also brought some incredible people into my life. It’s how I met my beautiful partner, Chloe, who has always been incredibly supportive. We worked together for two years as friends, and during that time I had a huge crush on her but I didn’t want to risk my apprenticeship or make things awkward.
After I finished my apprenticeship, I finally worked up the confidence to ask her out and thankfully, the feeling was mutual. Now, I get to work alongside her every day. We truly are a team, and I honestly couldn’t have done any of this without her.
The first Tattoo shop I worked in was also how I reconnected with Shane again. Today, I feel incredibly grateful for my journey, for my family and friends, and for the opportunity to do something I genuinely love every day.
To all of my clients, thank you. Your support allows me to keep creating, growing, and doing what I’m passionate about.
